3. Teil 1 — Conversation true/false (~5 min, 10 questions)

A natural conversation between 2 people (e.g., two friends discussing their vacation, two colleagues on a project). 10 statements to tick true/false. One single listen.

⚠️
Major pitfall. The statements reformulate the dialogue's sentences (synonyms, opposites, restrictions). Do NOT look for the exact words heard but the global meaning. Watch out for « nicht » which inverts everything: "Er hat nicht viel Zeit" ≠ "He has plenty of time".

Strategy: read the 10 statements in the 30 sec of silence BEFORE the audio, underline keywords (dates, numbers, opinions), tick as you go — no catch-up possible.

4. Teil 2 — Radio interview (~10 min, 6 MCQ)

A typical radio interview (journalist + guest — expert, writer, athlete, researcher). 6 MCQ questions with 3 options (A/B/C). Two listens to allow verifications.

🎙️
Example MCQ question:

Frage 3: Was ist laut Frau Dr. Müller die wichtigste Ursache für den Anstieg der Homeoffice-Nutzung?

  • A) Die COVID-Pandemie
  • B) Der Wunsch der Beschäftigten nach mehr Flexibilität
  • C) Die technologischen Fortschritte der letzten Jahre

Classic pitfall: the 3 options are ALL mentioned in the audio! The correct answer is the one the guest presents as « am wichtigsten » or « vor allem » — not just one she mentions.

5. Teil 3 — Discussion 3-4 people (~12 min, 6 attributions)

An informal discussion between 3 or 4 people (e.g., roundtable between students, team meeting). 6 statements to attribute to the right person ("Wer sagt was?"). One single listen.

⚠️
Warning. This is the hardest Teil because you must follow 3-4 voices simultaneously. Note each speaker's first name on scratch paper as soon as they speak, with 1 keyword on their opinion ("Anna = pro organic", "Paul = against"). Without these notes, impossible to correctly attribute the 6 statements.

6. Teil 4 — Academic lecture (~13 min, 8 fill-ins)

An academic lecture (university professor, researcher, specialist). 8 sentences to complete with 1-3 precise words. Two listens.

🎓
Example fill-in:

Nach Prof. Weber besteht das Hauptproblem der Digitalisierung der Schulen darin, dass ___(4)___ noch nicht ausreichend geschult sind.

Typical answer: « die Lehrkräfte » or « die Lehrer und Lehrerinnen ».

Strategy: before the audio, read the 8 sentences with blanks and guess the grammatical category missing (noun? verb? number?). This focuses listening on the right word type.

8. The 10 classic pitfalls of Hören B2

  1. Confusing interviewer vs interviewee. Always check who speaks before attributing an opinion.
  2. Falling into plausible distractors. The 3 MCQ options are ALL mentioned. The right one is marked "am wichtigsten / vor allem / entscheidend".
  3. Missing the word "nicht". A simple "nicht" inverts a whole sentence. Listen to the end.
  4. Confusing "alle" (all) and "einige" (some). Recurring pitfall at Teil 1 and 3.
  5. Not spotting connectors. "Allerdings", "jedoch", "aber" reverse the previous opinion.
  6. Getting stuck on unknown word. Skip, keep listening, come back with context.
  7. Underestimating Teil 4 (academic). Specialized vocabulary but 8 blanks = 27 pts.
  8. Not reading questions before audio. Without markers, listening is passive and fruitless.
  9. Ticking A by default when hesitating. Correct answers are evenly distributed A/B/C.
  10. Forgetting to transfer answers. Non-transferred = 0 points even if mentally correct.
