Hallo Peter,
[Your first name]

7. Task 2 corrected model — Topic 8 (Social media) — 88/100
Here's a complete forum comment model on Topic 8 (Social media).
| Criterion | Score | Justification |
|---|---|---|
| Erfüllung | 25/25 | Clear opinion (nuanced), 2 arguments (useful / dangerous), 2 concrete personal examples. |
| Kohärenz | 22/25 | Perfect argumentative structure: Auf der einen Seite… Auf der anderen Seite… Deshalb. -3 for missing extra example in 2nd part. |
| Wortschatz | 20/25 | Adapted vocabulary (Netzwerke, Sucht, Cybermobbing, Konzentration). -5 for globally B1 vocabulary without rarer words. |
| Korrektheit | 21/25 | Konjunktiv II (sollten), dass subordinate, word order respected. -4 for a few declension errors (counted). |
| Total | 88/100 | Good score, vocabulary progress margin. |
8. Task 3 corrected model — Topic 15 (Hotel booking) — 95/100
Here's a complete formal message model on Topic 15 (Hotel booking).
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
ich möchte gerne ein Doppelzimmer vom 12. bis zum 15. August reservieren. Ist das Frühstück im Preis inbegriffen?
Außerdem möchte ich Ihnen mitteilen, dass ich erst nach 20 Uhr ankommen werde.
Vielen Dank im Voraus für Ihre Antwort.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
[Your first and last name]
| Criterion | Score | Justification |
|---|---|---|
| Erfüllung | 25/25 | The 3 required points perfectly handled: booking, breakfast question, late arrival info. |
| Kohärenz | 24/25 | Logical flow. Außerdem as formal connector. -1 for slightly generic politeness phrase. |
| Wortschatz | 23/25 | Adapted formal vocabulary: Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, im Preis inbegriffen, mitteilen, im Voraus, Mit freundlichen Grüßen. -2 for synonym margin. |
| Korrektheit | 23/25 | Perfect word order after dass. Correct möchte + Infinitiv. Sie used throughout. -2 for absolute perfection. |
| Total | 95/100 | Excellent — Task 3 is the easiest to ace with the right formulas. |
9. The 6 recurring mistakes in B1 Schreiben
- Forgetting one of the 3 required points. #1 failure cause. Underline the 3 points before writing, tick at the end.
- Mixing registers. Task 1 = du and Hallo. Task 3 = Sie and Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren. Mixing them loses 10-15 points.
- Writing without connectors. Without deshalb, weil, außerdem, jedoch, your text caps at 60 % on Kohärenz.
- Word-for-word translation from English. "I think that" literally translated sometimes produces bizarre word orders. Learn 20 direct German phrase modules.
- Neglecting the Grußformel. Ending with "Bye" in Task 1 or nothing in Task 3 costs points on Wortschatz and Erfüllung.
- Widely exceeding the word count. 130 words for an 80-word task = time eaten from other tasks and no more points.
10. How to practice effectively on these 20 topics
Having 20 topics is useless if you don't write them. Here's the recommended 6-week practice method to reach a score above 80/100.
| Week | Goal | Activity |
|---|---|---|
| W1 | Understand formats | Read the 3 models above + 4-criteria sheet |
| W2 | Task 3 (easiest) | Write the 6 Task 3 topics in 20 min each |
| W3 | Task 1 (friendly email) | Write the 7 Task 1 topics |
| W4 | Task 2 (forum) | Write 4 of the 7 Task 2 topics |
| W5 | Task 2 (cont.) + revision | Write the last 3 Task 2 + review weak ones |
| W6 | Complete mock test | 3 tasks in timed 60 min |
The write-correct-redo protocol
- Write in real conditions (timer, paper, no dictionary).
- Correct your letter — either by AI (in Deutsch Exam), teacher, or a B2+ peer.
- Note the 3 recurring errors in a journal.
- Redo the same topic 2 days later, correcting the errors.
- Compare the two versions — that's where you see your progress.
To deepen each letter type structure, see our formal email structure guide and our 20 Sprechen key phrases which also contain connectors reusable in Schreiben.
