Terms of Use

1. Purpose

These Terms of Use (hereafter "Terms") govern access to and use of the Deutsch Exam mobile application (hereafter "the Application"), published by Deutsch Exam (hereafter "the Publisher").

The Application is a service for preparing for German-language exams (Goethe-Institut, ÖSD, TELC, ECL, TestDaF) intended for students and learners of the German language.

By downloading, installing or using the Application, the user (hereafter "the User") accepts these Terms without reservation.

2. Registration and user account

2.1 Account creation

Using the Application requires creating a personal account. Sign-up can be done via:

• An email address and a password
• A Google account (Google Sign-In)
• An Apple account (Sign in with Apple)

2.2 Personal information

The User undertakes to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. They are responsible for the confidentiality of their login credentials and for any activity carried out from their account.

2.3 Minimum age

The Application is intended for people aged 13 and over. Minors under 18 must obtain the authorisation of their legal guardian before creating an account.

2.4 One account per person

Each User may hold only one account. Creating multiple accounts is forbidden.

3. Service description

The Application offers the following features:

• Preparation exercises — 25 exercise types covering the 5 language skills (Lesen, Hören, Sprachbausteine, Schreiben, Sprechen), matching the formats of the 5 exam centres.
• AI correction — Automated grading of written and oral productions against the official criteria of the exam centres.
• Virtual tutor Frau Roos — AI-powered conversational assistant for grammar help, vocabulary practice and text correction.
• Spaced-repetition vocabulary — Review system based on the SM-2 algorithm.
• Weekly leaderboard — Competitive ranking across users, reset every Monday.
• Badges and gamification — Reward system to encourage consistency.

4. Acceptable use

The User undertakes to use the Application in a manner consistent with its educational purpose. They specifically agree not to:

• Share their login credentials with third parties
• Attempt to bypass access restrictions to the Application's features
• Use the Application for cheating during official exams
• Publish inappropriate, offensive or indecent content via the chat or public-profile features
• Attempt to extract, copy or redistribute the Application's contents (exercises, exam papers, audios)
• Use automated means (bots, scripts) to interact with the Application or skew the leaderboard
• Collect personal data of other users

Any breach may result in the suspension or deletion of the account, without notice.

5. Intellectual property

All contents of the Application (texts, exercises, audios, images, code, design, trademarks) are the exclusive property of the Publisher or its partners and are protected by the applicable intellectual-property laws.

The User receives a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right of use, limited to using the Application as part of preparing for German-language exams.

The exercises and exam papers offered in the Application are original creations inspired by the official formats of the exam centres. They are not reproductions of the official tests.

6. Artificial intelligence

6.1 Nature of AI responses

The corrections, evaluations and replies provided by the artificial intelligence (correction of productions, Frau Roos tutor, vocabulary enrichment) are generated automatically and may contain mistakes or inaccuracies.

The marks and evaluations given by the AI are indicative and in no way constitute a prediction of the result on the official exam.

6.2 Data processed by the AI

The User's written and oral productions are transmitted to third-party AI services (Google Gemini) for analysis and correction. This data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

7. Service availability

The Publisher endeavours to keep the Application accessible 24/7, but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The Application may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates or in the event of force majeure.

The Publisher reserves the right to modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of the service, with reasonable notice when possible.

8. Limitation of liability

The Application is provided "as is". The Publisher does not guarantee that use of the Application will lead to success on a German exam.

The Publisher cannot be held liable for:

• Errors or inaccuracies in the AI corrections or in Frau Roos's responses
• Loss of data due to a technical failure or misuse
• Indirect damages (loss of opportunity, lost earnings) arising from use of the Application
• Service interruptions due to causes beyond its control (network outages, store updates, etc.)

9. Personal data

The User's personal data is collected and processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using the Application, the User consents to the processing of their data as described in that policy.

10. Termination

10.1 By the User

The User may delete their account at any time from the profile settings.

Account deletion irreversibly deletes all associated data (progress, vocabulary, correction history, badges).

10.2 By the Publisher

The Publisher reserves the right to suspend or delete a User's account in case of breach of these Terms, in particular for fraudulent use, abusive behaviour or non-compliance with the acceptable-use rules.

11. Changes to these Terms

The Publisher reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect upon publication in the Application. The User will be informed of substantial changes by notification within the Application. Continued use of the Application after notification constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are subject to Cameroonian law.

In the event of a dispute, the parties undertake to seek an amicable resolution. Failing an amicable agreement within 30 days, the dispute shall be brought before the competent courts of Yaoundé, Cameroon.
